Lena Duchannes (rhymes with rain) is new in town. Not only is she new, but she is very very different. She is the niece of the town’s eccentric hermit, and no one wants to accept her. That is, except for Ethan Wate. An instant connection bonds the two teenagers together in a way that no one understands. However, they both know that their time is limited. Lena’s 16th birthday is fast approaching and with it comes a change that could seal her fate for the rest of her life.
Garcia and Stohl have crafted a good story. I love the way the build the setting of small town South Carolina, and the characters that reside in it. That being said, Lena and Ethan’s relationship seems skirted over. For such an exciting story line, this book is not much of a page turner, however, it is also never boring. Good, not great.
