It all begins with a mouse and a tail. The mouse asks the tail if it wants to be his friend. Turn the page and you see that the tail belongs to an unfriendly horse. So mouse moves on to another tail. He encounters many different tails that are connected to many different animals. Will he ever find a friend?

This is such a cute book. The only words come from the first page, with the exception of one other word towards the end of the book. Each page you get to see a tail, but not the whole animal until you turn the page. I think this is a great book for kids who are learning what different animals look like and what they are called. With each page kids can look at the tail and guess what animal will be on the next page, or try to identify the animal in its entirety. This is another book in which the art reminds me of “The Very Hungry Caterpillar.” I must be drawn to this style of art. Colorful, adorable, and interactive, what more can you ask for?
