The king is taking a bath and he just won’t get out. The page continuously cried out “Help! Help! King Bidgood’s in the bathtub, and he won’t get out! Oh, who knows what to do?” Many people come forward and offer a way to get him out of the tub. The knight tells the king it is time to battle, yet the king replies they will battle in the tub! This continues with lunch, fishing, and the masquerade ball. According to the king all those things shall be done in the tub! How will the page ever get him out of the bathroom?
There are many great things about this book starting with the illustrations. They are not particularly bright or colorful, however, they are detailed, imaginative, and fantastical. The characters are clad in awesome costumes with incredibly expressive faces from the delight of the king during bath time, to the frustration of the page. The words of the book are very lyrical and repetitive. It makes for a fun sing songy story time. Just wait until you get to the end and learn that sometimes the simplest of solutions work the best.
