It starts off as the story of The Ugly Duckling, but something is not quite right. There is a big green tail on the page! When we turn the page we see that there is a scary crocodile in the book. He seems to be making trouble. He starts to eat the letters on the pages, making words harder to read, then he starts eating the sentences! Now the reader, along with the original duckling must figure out how to get the crocodile out of the book!
I love the way the book starts with a classic fairy tale, but we soon find out that danger is lurking around every page. I especially enjoyed the page where letters start being eaten, we see the words but with missing letters! This can be a really fun game with your kid to try to read and guess the words, without all of the letters. There are also a few pages that call for some action from the reader, like rocking the page back and forth in order to make the crocodile fall asleep. The illustrations of the crocodile are really funny. He is always making goofy faces, not to mention he is really fat, unnaturally so! This is a great interactive book.
