Annabelle lived in a town that was lacking in colors. One day, she found a box that had yarns of all different colors, so she knit herself a sweater. She saw that she had extra yarn, so she knit her dog a sweater. But she still had extra. She continued to knit sweaters for all the town residents, and not just people. She knit sweaters for houses and trees, and other items in town. Soon word of her miraculous box of yarn spread across the world. People came from far and wide to see. But one of the visitors did not have the best intentions!
This was a really cute book. First of all, I really like Jon Klassen’s illustrations, especially his animals. Their faces are just so funny. I also like the creativity of Annabelle to knit not just clothing for people but clothing for houses. It is obvious that she was not satisfied by the dull colors that plagued her town. The language was simple and easy to comprehend. I thought that the end was very odd. I don’t want to give to much away, but the visitor I alluded to above, just seemed out of place in the tone of the story. However, I think this is a great book that can motivate preschool craft activities.
