Emaline just graduated high school, and she has one last summer before she leaves the small beach town of Colby and goes away to college. Her biological father is jerk, her boyfriend cheats on her, and her last summer is nothing that she expects it to be.
So I realize my description is short, but saying much more would give away parts of the story. In general, realistic fiction is not my favorite genre, and even when it is, Dessen is not my favorite author. I will give her this, she can always manage to write about nothing but somehow I want to keep reading. Not sure how that works. I think she is very good at ending chapters in a way that makes you want to read the next. If you have ever read her work, know that this is just another typical Sarah Dessen novel. She writes about believable characters in unbelievable yet realistic situations. Not bad, but also not great.
